Following the closure of the famous Nestle factory in 1991, the site was sold and redeveloped for medium density housing. The Heritage Council of NSW and Drummoyne Council relocated the Pavilion to its publicly visible spot in October 1996. After 11 painstaking months the Pavilion was faithfully restored to its original glory, including a geometrically patterned exposed timber frame, decorative metal and slate roof, and remarkable interior detailing and timber joinery.

The owner of this business has operated for more than 6 years and he is getting jaded and wants to spend more time with growing family before he will embark on a more challenging venture – sometime into the future. But for now, he just wants to take life a little bit more easy. He has built an excellent and profitable business and believes that somebody – working in the business – could continue with what he has created.
I had the pleasure of experiencing high tea at The Cove Dining Co in Abbotsford, choosing a weekday for a refreshing change. Our visit proved to be an extraordinary delight from start to finish.
Booking Process Our reservation was effortlessly made through their user-friendly website. On the day of our booking, we appreciated the personal touch of a phone call from the manager, confirming our reservation.
Arrival and Venue Upon arrival in Abbotsford, we found ample street parking with ease. The venue, set amidst lush trees and vibrant plants, greeted us with a charming staircase entrance. Housed in the heritage-listed community hall of the former Abbotsford Nestlé factory site, The Cove Dining Co offers a picturesque setting, perfect for enjoying a sunny day on their balcony. The establishment features outdoor seating at both the front, overlooking a beautifully maintained garden, and the back, which opens onto a serene park. We were seated at the back, enjoying the tranquil garden view.
Service and Atmosphere The service was nothing short of exceptional. The manager, recognizing my accent from our phone conversation, greeted me in French, adding a personal and welcoming touch. Our waitress was professional, friendly, and attentive, enhancing our overall experience.
Current owner has operated the business for more than 6 years - but this has been the site of a successful cafe/restaurant operation for more than 30 years.
