In 1985, Geláre founder Farid Torabi arrived in Western Australia from the United States and identified a gap in the market—while many food outlets existed, none specialized in premium desserts. Leaving behind a career in engineering with no prior business experience, he took a bold step and opened Geláre’s first store in Fremantle, laying the foundation for what would become an internationally recognized brand.
