Employees
Owner Operator is the sole employee and manages the store at the moment and is paid a salary fortnightly.
In the past casuals x 2 and one permanent have been employed, but they have since retired.

Owner transitioning to retirement and would like a bit more time to enjoy traveling, fishing and gardening. It is a hard decision to make as I have really enjoyed the journey of owning and operating my own business. I have made valuable life long friendships with many locals and returning customers. About the Business
The business specialises in natural fibre clothing, this is our point of difference. It includes hemp, linens both knitted and woven, bamboo and blends of cotton/hemp, cotton/silk to name a few.
Some repairs and alterations are carried out on the premises to assist locals with their curently owned garment requirements.
We have good rapport with our suppliers, many we have used from conception and as we settle all our accounts in a timely manner this great relationship has been maintained.
All of our suppliers have been an important key to the business, as they all have their unique point of difference.
We stock clothing from Italy, Poland, New Zealand and our very precious Australian Made labels.
We cater for a medium sized country town and a very large regional growing area encumpasing the Whitsunday Region with a variety of age groups and needs.
We also cater for the beach town of Airlie which consist of locals and tourists. Airlie developed back in the early 1900's when residents of Proserpine wanted a place to take their families to play with their boats on the weekend. So they built their beach shacks along the coast line, some of which still remain today.
Other customers also travel from Bowen, Collinsville, Dingo Beach and Midge Point all part of our local Whitsunday shire.
Customers often come from Mackay as they are seeking an alternative to the big shopping centre syndrome.
One thing for sure, ladies of this region love to dress up and are open to trying new styles and fabrics. So we keep our stock unique by buying small quantities of each style and colour.
People are always saying how friendly our country town is and what a beautiful shop this is.
Since COVID changed all our lives by bringing new people to our area and growing our population by way of people seeking a better way of life. And this is exactly what we have to offer here.
With the town growing, there are a number of thriving small businesses and with my last glance around town, I found it hard to see any vacant premises on offer for an up and coming new business operator, especially in a prime position such as the centre of town.
History
Proserpine is a sugar town with our local mill established in 1897.
As mentioned in the begining the business was established in 2007 and grew from year to year.
It has serviced the community, filling in the gaps where possible, when other businesses in the area closed during the financial crisis and COVID. We have always worked with other businesses locally where possible and over the years maintained membership with the local chamber of commerce and other organisations. We increase our customer base, because we listen to our customers.
