The round has obvious potential for growth.Apart from online ads the easiest and most effective way to increase the number of clients would be to hand out flyers directly near current clients.
Skills
You would need to be physically fit to handle a decent reel mower like a 26'' or 30'' mower.
Summer is the busiest season so youll have to be able to work in the heat.
You will need to be self motivated and have a decent knowledge of turf
You will also have to be about to interact with clients and sort out scheduling, invoicing, accounts, tax etc.
To have experience with commercial reel mowers, edgers and whipper snippers is almost a prerequiste
Hours
Lawns are 2 weekly in summer and 4 weekly in winter
So about 16 hours a week in summer but theres many vairables

I have had this round for about 17 years and looking to downsize
A lot of these customers have been with Trident Lawnmowers for over 25 years.
About 1/3 are cash customers and the rest are invoiced
All cylinder mower jobs and some large lawns so a decent sized commercial reel mower is essential, like an MEY or Mow Master. Plus clients expect a quality job so a scott bonnar or Masport wont cut it.
No equipment is provided but can help with the purchase and service of gear as we have also have a maintanace business which includes sharpen and sets
Training will be provided during handover but Id recommend previous experience in using commercial mowing equipment
We take the lawn clipping only because it is convenient for us. However They all have green bins so you can use them
These lawns are all within about 10 minutes of each other. Almost all have bores so are green all through summer

I bought this round about 17 years ago and still have most of those clients. we obvioulsy do good work and they would expect the same standard going forward
