Potential

Store started in December 2022, and has been growing in customer base continuously. Potential for 10-30% increase per year organically, and more if marketing applied.
You can make an online store to sell from and I will provide all the products and photos for it which took me years to do.

Skills

1. We can train you and support you.
2. The business only requires about 1 person. Perhaps a part time if you want to keep your feet up.
3. If you can talk to people, you will learn most of what you need from the growers themselves.
4. I can provide a top salesman from my Nerang store if you wanted to hire a staff member - if you don't want to be involved in the day to day he can run it.

Hours

9-5 weekdays and 9-1 Saturdays.
Some other hydroponic stores open at 930 or 10am, and may even close on a weekday.

Lease

Just signed the option on a 3 year lease and was able to negotiate a drop in rent, as the landlord is motivated.

Employees

Profit of 159K per annum - from that, you will need to pay yourself and any staff. I run this alone, even while while running the Gold Coast store by remote. It's not too taxing as a one person operation.

Reason for Sale

1. I am 58 and tired of driving from the Gold Coast everyday. I've been in Hydroponic stores for 35 years.
2. Now that this store is profitable, it's time for change
3. I manufacture nutrients and also run 2 stores and I am spreading myself too thin, and not getting my nutrient into distributors enough. The nutrient manufacturing is my long term semi-retirement business, and I need to get it running better because of my age. I will of course supply your store with this popular nutrient

About the Business

Mostly we just stock Hydroponic things that people want to do Hydroponics. Since most of Hydroponics takes about 5-10 minutes to explain, people really enjoy getting plants to grow 2 to 3 times better/faster than soil. Hydroponics can be as easy as a pot full of soil substitute, and a watering can with nutrient added from a bottle. We have displays for people to see different equipment working. These will teach you in a couple of days how easy Hydroponics is.
We will also provide backup by phone or as negotiated for any problem you cannot handle immediately. We will provide all the suppliers that usually take years to track down. This is often the main reason startup fail, they don't have a customer base like we do, and they don't know all the places to get things.
Customers are walk in, they like to shop in local stores like ours. Browns Plains is at the intersection of logan motorway, gateway motorway and Mount Lindsay highway which is the gateway to all new residential areas in the south of Brisbane (from about 10min south) ensuring growth for years to come.
Our reputation is excellent. We make sure we are professional as well as friendly. Our products are all reliable and this is important to our customer base. They take our recommendations all the time.
The future for this business is excellent.

History

We opened in 1991 in Miami, moved to a small store in Nerang in 1998, a medium store 2007 and a large store in 2014. Pandemic 2020 we did very very well and employed a lot of people. We noticed that our customer base from logan/brisbane areas began to decrease due to traffic on the M1 to Gold Coast. We did a search for stores in Brisbane, easy drive from the whole of Brisbane, near growth corridor, 20 minutes or more away from other stores. We decided to open. Year 1 was low due to no customer base. Year 2 and 3 grew and keeps growing daily.
