It was founded by custom artist and Australian Tattooist Guild member Jason Hampstead in 2015, who has spent over a decade building a reputation for high-quality body art, custom alternative streetwear, and local community service.
Core Operations include -
Tattoo Studio: Led by Jason Hampstead who has 35 years experience in the tattoo industry and Nicole Lucas, the studio boasts a 4.9-star rating and is also an award winning studio in Bass Coast. They specialise in traditional black ink, custom flash art, and personalized larger pieces. Their newest team member Steve McDougall who has 37 years experience in the industry also specialises in realism and portraits.
Body Piercing: Nicole handles the studio's health-department-approved piercing services, backed by over 10 years of experience in the industry. It provides a large range of jewellery options as well and is enormously popular throughout summer.
Alternative Retail: The storefront carries its own custom clothing label alongside shoes and subculture fashion accessories.
The clients are as unique and diverse as the business and many are returning customers, be they locals or seasonal. A lot of schoolies head down here over November and when summer hits the business explodes. You get to a point where you need to turn people away. Last year we were required to call in tattooists from Melbourne to assist with the number of customers that we were having through our doors. Despite having the competition as you enter Cowes, our prime position and location makes it a premium place for customers.
We are close to many amenities and due to our signage we stand out. Lots of sports team come at the end of season to get tattoos and you always get requests for penguin tattoos - which we have a multitude of. We have a fresh & bright environment which makes it inviting for customers and with our clothing label and scooter ordering system it is a place for the whole family. It doesn't scare everyone away.
There continues to be a long-term lease with a private landlord, who is also local. All staff will remain. It will literally be a walk in-walk out and you will have a great team to support you. All staff are local, with Nicole and Steve giving you 110%.
