About the Business

Hippie Chick Coffee- 'we can trace your coffee from farmer to cup' and was built on the foundation of supporting local Melbourne businesses by buying locally. Gippsland milk & local micro dairies. Paper cups & lids made from vegetable fibre & fully compostable-no trees or plastic materials. Ethically sourced coffee beans by local coffee hunters/roasters. An ecofriendly internal coffee machinery process that does not require running a noisy, fume-laden generator. It runs fully off-grid on LPG gas & lithium battery system- no requirements for a powered site which makes market/festival sites cheaper to hire. You can also run it on electricity as it plugs directly into a standard household 240v plug. It is a unique (only one of its kind) little set-up. It was designed by an engineer and fitted out professionally. Nissan Cube, automatic transmission with 4WD. Small, compact and noise-less. The only sound is the coffee machinery making your coffee- very good for indoor spaces and film sets where noise can be an issue. ithium battery, inverter system. Runs on 12v and 240v- there are standard 240v powerpoints to recharge electronics and plug in kitchen appliances.
Everyone loves the brand- although you can remove car decals and rebrand it. Our coffee van gets a lot of admirers- especially guys who are interested in its unique set-up and ask lots of questions about how it all works. I often have indepth conversations explaining the system. It's technically impressive, fitted into a compact vehicle. Clients become loyal very quickly, once you prove to be consistent- in the same place at the same time, according to your work schedule.
The investment is small for a complete business- product and stock all in one place and able to rove around and sell anywhere. The routines are simple and streamlined: fire-up the machinery in the morning, dial in your coffee grinder, and get on the road with the machinery all ready to go (about one hour prep). Drive to your selling destination and open the back door to start selling coffees immediately. Shutdown: Turn off machinery, drive home, empty sullage, refill water tank, plug in to 240v to recharge battery, clean equipment, refill stock (about one hour).

History

Founded as a family business in Covid shutdowns. Built on ethical, locally sourced equipment and products. Business plan & targets researched. Where/when council permits are required. Where/how you can sell. The most cost effective ways to sell with very little overheads- don't waste money on expensive council permits. Best snacks for this size vehicle ie. volume/mass/expiry dates. Dosages- milk/coffee etc carefully set for the best cup of coffee & least wastage. Most streamlined way of selling, with very little 'takehome' work- more time 4 you
