5/20-22 Boag Place
The factory is in a Perth suburb. There is a company owned store and a pop-up store in
two of Perth's largest shopping centres. In addition, another brand is sold in IGA
supermarkets in Western Australia
There is the potential to grow the business in many ways
more pop-up shops
throughout shopping centres. A tourist attraction where the public watch the
production of the chocolate
this could be complimentary to an already established
business as well as corporate and event sales.
The Vendor is willing to train the purchaser in all processes if required.
Currently 12-14 both part-time and full-time
The seller has decided to retire after many years as a Chocolatier.
The Chocolatier's stores have a quality "chocolate boutique" image similar to that of a
traditional European chocolatier. The company's image and the name and packaging
impart integrity of the product and positions the business as an artisan.
Accordingly, the permanent and pop-up stores cater for a variety of customer needs
such as personal indulgence, general gifts, specific event gifts such as weddings,
corporate clientele, fundraising and of course yearly events such as Christmas, Easter
Valentines Day, Mothers' and Fathers' Day.
Prior to 1985 the business owned and operated a candy manufacturing business which
specialized in old fashioned boiled sweets however after severalyears observing the
market decided to enter the niche market of high-quality chocolate.
After extensive research, overseas trips and training in New York the Chocolatier
concept was developed and the first store was opened in Claremont in 1985. The candy
operation was sold to allow for the development of chocolate manufacturing and retail.
Initially the Chocolatier was responsible for manufacturing, developing new products,
procedures, packaging and distribution and was also involved in marketing. The other
partner had the responsibility for finances, retail, wholesale and marketing until he
became ill in 2006. The Chocolatier bought out his partner and became responsible for
the entire operation of the business.
Over the following years the business developed another brand and expanded its range,
this is sold in IGA stores.
Currently the business is operating from the same building since conception, but it has
been a long-term goal of the owner to move to a new facility and operate it as a tourist
attraction allowing viewing of the manufacturing and featuring a retail shop.
