Gippsland Industrial Cleaning is a long-established regional cleaning company with a proven record of reliability, contract stability, and steady growth.
Since taking ownership in December 2010, the business has expanded from a small local operation with six employees into a well-structured commercial cleaning service employing around 30 staff and servicing 16 regular clients, including schools, medical centres, and commercial facilities across East Gippsland.
From an early base of schools, supermarkets, and offices, we steadily diversified into additional schools and office buildings, hotels, medical and real-estate cleaning, carpet and domestic cleaning, commercial window and kitchen cleaning, mowing and rubbish runs from the NSW border through to Omeo
By 2017, with 23 employees, a full-time Operations Manager was appointed to oversee day-to-day operations as part of a planned move toward an owner-managed, systems-based structure.
During COVID, the business expanded rapidly to meet new cleaning and compliance demands. Staffing peaked at 38, including an additional supervisor, and we took on daytime cleaning across 13 schools.
Annual turnover rose from $845 K (2019/20) to $1.1 M (2020/21).
In 2022 we made a strategic decision to consolidate, focusing on our most stable and profitable clients, primarily long-term school contracts, several of which doubled in size following building extensions and school amalgamations.
Client numbers were reduced from 52 to 25 while maintaining turnover of ~$1.1 M (2023/24), demonstrating the strength and efficiency of the remaining portfolio.
Operations Today - 16 ongoing clients & approx. 30 employees
Work hours: mainly 6 -9 am and 3-9 pm (scope to re-engage daytime contracts)
Management: run by one experienced manager; owner oversees accounts, payroll, and occasional backup cleaning (< 20 hrs/week)
Admin support: bookkeeper manages BAS, super, and monthly financials
We continue to receive regular new-business enquiries but have not actively advertised and have never maintained an online presence, presenting clear upside for growth-minded new owners.
Many client relationships exceed 10 years, with recent multi-year contract extensions already in place.
