Offside Tag is a non-tackling, simple, fun, team sport. Think Tag + 360 Degree Passing combined with NFL. Two teams of 8 aim to score maximum points via ‘try’s’, evading defenders wishing to remove the ball players waist tag, resetting play (watch our video).
Offside Tag provides a unique, yet relatable concept. The game offers comparisons to Australia’s mainstream sports including; Rugby League, Rugby Union, AFL, Soccer & Netball, with a touch of America’s NFL. The biggest point of difference is the ball can be passed forward and there are set attacking and defending lines.
Offside Tag was created on two basic fundamentals:
1. design a game players want to play and
2. create a stronger community through sport
An Offside Tag playing field hosts 4x more games on a rectangular sports field than senior soccer/league/union, and 2x more than touch and tag. This allows for higher volume of games within shorter timeframes, increasing operational efficiency. Private and public-school venues also become a playable option, reducing competition for green space and enabling Offside Tag to form relationship with schools.
Points of Difference
o Unique yet familiar – Less rules and easy to play
o Cross-code game – Specifically developed to blend mainstream sports into one game
o Ball Size – Played with a mod size football to enhance ball movement
o Develops spatial awareness – 360 degree passing and running
o Non-tackling – The game is played with tags on a short/wide field to reduce contact
o Strategy – The most athletic team does not always win
o Creativity Encouraged – Players are not punished for making mistakes by handing over possession. They only lose a down.
Why us
Unlock Exclusive Opportunities as a License Holder of Offside Tag!
Offside Tag is excited to share with you a unique and lucrative opportunity: becoming a license holder of Offside Tag! This partnership is not just about affiliation; it’s about joining a thriving community and capitalising on the vast potential of the non-tackling sports industry.
Founded in 2023 by Chris Borgese, former Canberra Raider and Salford City Reds Player and Gold Coast Titans Development Officer. Chris had ambitions for a long professional career, however, the universe had other ideas. Cut short by injury, it took 15 years of soul searching before his passion for sports was rediscovered.
The creation of Offside Tag can be attributed to Chris's time in Canberra playing ball game variations as warm-ups, conditioning and competition. Or, it could be contributed to asking himself at his 9-5 job one day “Is this what I want to be doing for the next 20 years”. Like most, the answer was “No". The next question was, “What makes me happy”. The answer was “sport, fitness, business, community and coaching”. With that, Offside Tag was born.
The key criteria in designing Offside Tag was to:
• Create a game people want to play
• Keep it simple, safe and fun
• Place emphasis on creating an inclusive community through sport
With the above being said, it was also the aspiration of helping other former athletes, coaches and community minded people rediscover their purpose. Life’s too short to work a job you don’t love, and Chris wanted to create a pathway others could be fulfilled through sport. So, instead of one competition on the Gold Coast, he has extended opportunities for others across the state to get involved, running their own sporting association, helping fill that void likeminded people were feeling.
Here’s why you should consider this opportunity:
