Are you an aspiring entrepreneur or an experienced baker looking for a new venture? Look no further! The Woodfired Baker offers a rare chance to step into a thriving boutique, small-batch bakery and café with a rich history.
This bakery is powered by a century-old wood-fired oven, built by the renowned Australian company Metlers Ltd. Originally installed in the 1920s for German-born baker George Rossbech, this oven had been dormant for nearly 45 years before being rediscovered in December 2010. Andrew Ritchie found the disused oven in a back corner of an art gallery in Maylands and, seeing its potential, began the meticulous process of restoring it to its former glory.
In November 2011, The Woodfired Baker’s first batch of authentic, artisan sourdough bread was delivered to local restaurants, cafés, and farmers markets. Today, the iconic oven produces more than 2,000 loaves of freshly baked bread and gourmet pastries each week, serving the local community and beyond.
What makes this business special:
• Rich History: The restoration of a historic wood-fired oven with a story that connects the past to the present.
• Strong Customer Base: Established relationships with local restaurants, cafés, and markets that continue to grow.
• Sustainability: Small-batch, artisan products made with care and passion, appealing to customers who value quality.
Whether you're looking to continue a legacy of quality baked goods or bring your own fresh ideas to an already successful bakery, The Woodfired Baker offers an incredible opportunity to tap into the growing demand for artisan, sustainable food in a thriving community.
