Reason for Sale

My time at Weswal has been a most brilliant experience. It is a vibrant and successful business that turns over a substantial amount artworks annually and still has room to grow and expand. I ultimately want to relocate back to the coast and after working here for almost 10 years I am ready for new challenges.

About the Business

Weswal Gallery is housed in a beautiful architecturally refitted building in Tamworths premier suburb, East Tamworth. The gallery has operated since 1981 and since inception has developed a fine reputation as a premier cultural destination in the New England region. Weswal has a huge amount of goodwill as an institution and is a successful business selling substantial amounts of art every year. The building also houses an excellent, well patronised cafe making it a desirable destination for locals and tourists alike.

In addition to a solid and long established local client base, the gallery enjoys support from national and international buyers through its trusted website, social media and email database.

Weswal enjoys long standing relationships with many fantastic artists and designers, some of who have been with the gallery since 1981. We hold regular exhibitions and occassional workshops, with potential for expansion in that area. The gallery also has a gift shop/design store selling unique Australian made and designed objects, there is also great potential to expand this side of the business.

The gallery is situated on the edge of Tamworths Victoria Park Precinct, an area earmarked to become one of Tamworths main tourism destinations with the development of the Tamworth Regional Skywalk (beggining opposite the gallery) and placed in close vicinity to Botanic Gardens, Marsupial Park, Oxley Lookout and the Astrology Centre. Tamworth is a rapidly growing regional city with a large percentage of young professional families driving the development of a number of new housing estates.

History

Weswal Gallery was founded in 1981, its name is a portmanteau of its founders surnames, WESt and WALker. It has always showcased high quality, curated exhibitions and designer goods from Australian artists and makers and as a result has become a sought after regional cultural destination for collectors and tourists. We have a full program of exhibitions and our reputation sees us often approached by artists seeking to work together, and clients seeking quality artworks.
