Reason for Sale

"After 14 years of successfully growing and managing this business, the decision to sell comes as a result of a natural transition phase. This transition offers an exciting opportunity for a new owner to build on the business's established success and continue its growth trajectory.

About the Business

Global Gourmet has two core focuses: to manufacture and distribute freshly made fruit flavored yoghurt throughout Far Northern Queensland including Cape York and the Torres Strait region and to act as a regional wholesaler of premium quality, gourmet foods sourced from small boutique businesses across Queensland, Australia as well as the world.

The current owners have diversified the businesses revenue streams since their purchase in 2010 into the wholesale market of premium quality, individually sourced, artisan style gourmet foods.

The premises include a concrete block warehouse with mezzanine office and toilet / shower facilities. The warehouse is accompanied by ample outside parking and storage area. Inside the warehouse features a large cool room. The cool room is designed ergonomically as a working space with the kitchen making up 1/3 of the total cool room area. The remaining area is used for storage. Both areas have separate entrances. Down one side of the cool room are deep freezers used for storing frozen items. On top of the cool room is used for packaging storage. The delivery truck is housed inside and is attached to a shore power system that is programmed to auto cool the truck’s refrigeration unit in preparedness for being loaded first thing in the morning for delivery.

Operations have been highly optimised and proceduralised to achieve maximum time and cost efficiency as well as product quality. Operations are not reliant entirely on the owner being present which means flexibility for the owner but also indicates a smoothly functioning business with strong collaboration between staff who are willing to give additional time, energy and initiative where required.
Global Gourmet’s market is comprised of retailers. They do not sell directly to the end customer. It has been suggested that a retail side or online store is a viable additional revenue stream that has not been pursued by the current owner
Specific market segments for yoghurt sales include:
- Supermarkets
- Grocery and Convenience Stores
- Restaurants & Cafes
- CEQ a distrubtor to remote communities
- Queensland Rail and Qantas/Virgin Airlines

Markets are diverse in both demographic and geography creating an opportunity for largely diversified revenue streams. The opportunity for increased business development also exists specifically for Global Gourmet together with the value add of the gourmet food lines which are also appealing to these markets.
