Need a sea change on the beautiful south coast of WA?? Loose Goose Tavern & Restaurant offers a full Tavern Liquor Licence for 340px, with take-away alcohol sales included in the unrestricted licence.
Esperance
The Goose has a very large frontage in a prime location in the CBD, just 200m from beach! Esperance is an extremely popular holiday destination with tourists flocking in droves to see the whitest sand and best beaches in Aust -google it for yourself!
Many areas could be improved. We have never explored take-away alcohol sales nor have we looked in to take-away meals, but the demand is certainly there for both. Perhaps home delivery too.
We currently open 5 nights a week. 7 nights would show an enormous improvement. Offering lunches would be massive!
There is substantial room (344m2) at the rear to create a beer garden, a stone’s throw from the beach! Accessible toilets are already there.
The building has potential to be built up to take advantage of ocean views, with freehold purchase
Previous management experience in hospitality would be beneficial but not required as the business is well systemised. This, in combination with the current owners post settlement training period and cross-trained staff assisting the new owner when required, means the day-to-day operations can be learned very quickly.
Currently open Tuesday to Saturday 4-10pm. New owners could increase hrs/days for a vast improvement in turnover
New 20 yr lease +5 +5 with substantial rent discounts for the first year
Freehold purchase is also option
Currently 9 - 10 casual employees plus current working owners.
In recent years the we have had to scale the Goose back considerably, due to our ages and some health concerns. In the past we opened every night of the week but more recently have opened 5 nights at the most, sometimes less. All three partners are in their mid-late 60’s. One has had significant health issues for the last few years, and we are all worn out and ready to retire and enjoy our many grandchildren.
We started Loose Goose in December 2003, almost 20 years ago, as a small BYO restaurant. It was a family business, providing employment not only for us, the three working partners, but also for all of our children in their teenage years, and many of their girlfriends/boyfriends.
Over the years and with much hard work from the partners, two of them hands-on Chefs, we built the then 50 seater humble restaurant into what it is today - an Esperance institution with an outstanding reputation with locals and tourists alike.
It has developed into a large, modern establishment with a full unrestricted Tavern Licence, allowing for 340pax, functions and take-away alcohol sales.
It has a very large frontage in a prime location in the heart of Esperance, approximately 200m from the town beach.
We have a large base of local clientelle which we have built up and nurtured for the last 20 years, as well as a steady trade in tourists already visiting this popular Western Australian town
We source local produce whenever possible, and have established long-term relationships with local distirbutors.
The Goose has 20 self owned beer taps which are not contracted to any brewery, allowing you to choose and try beers on tap at will.
We pride ourselves on our consistently high quality meals and attentive service, which attracts discerning customers. Such is the quality of our clientelle we are proud to say we have never had to call on the police to help with unruly patrons, as is the norm for many licenced premises!
There is absolutely no doubt that the Goose has huge potential to grow with new, driven and possibly younger owners! The local market is nowhere near fully utilised and what’s more, Esperance has become an extremely popular holiday destination in recent years with tourists flocking here in droves from all corners of Australia and the world! After all, it’s well-known that we have the best beaches and whitest sand - see for yourself -

We have never had an aggressive marketing strategy. We have always relied mainly on word of mouth advertising and have done for 20 years. Partly because that’s all we have needed and partly because none of us is particularly computer savvy. A stronger focus on advertising would greatly increase both exposure and turnover.
