Byron Rashie is an ethical outdoor recreation brand born in Byron Bay and employs Australian businesses to cut and sew the garments, helping to grow a sustainable future for the label and those that work with us.
With the ocean and natural environment as inspiration, Byron Rashie has an ongoing commitment to lower its footprint by choosing not only to manufacture the core product range locally, but also incorporating Econyl as its fabric of choice – a regenerated nylon made predominantly from ocean and landfill waste.
In the decade since launch, the brand has created and retailed an innovative and unique product range of surf wear that successfully blends protection with style. History
I came up with an idea for a rashie with a functional hood while I was co-producing a surfing documentary and was taken on Australian Story by Ric Richardson who believed I had invented and designed a unique garment that could be patented. The idea gained traction so I went into production with a range. I have never had the time to scale the business up, and was more interested in the design and development of product, sampling and small production runs to test product and market. The business model is very simple yet requires time and passion.
