I started this business as a secondary income to my primary job and it has now become far too busy for me. I have rejected many bookings as I don't have the time. I have made $25,000/ annum working two days per week and only doing weddings, i.e. 6 months per year. If someone wanted to work full time they could easily quadruple the wedding bookings and take corporate bookings in winter. There are constant wedding enquiries with the only advertising being social media and a $200 ad in an online directory. There is no shop front so no expenses.


Anyone interested in floristry would succeed in this business. I have no qualifications and am entirely self taught. When I started the business I had no clue but just learnt to arrange flowers with practice. The style is boho/natural so the clients do not expect perfection. I am happy to provide mentoring / support for the upcoming wedding season if the buyer wants that, particularly in where to source good quality fresh flowers from as I have good relationships with local growers.

Reason for Sale

I have another job which requires me to increase my hours. With a young family and a husband working away the floristry business has simply become too busy for me and unfortunately I can't do it all. I don't want to dissolve the business as I have worked so hard to get it to this point where it has a strong following and consistent enquiries, I can quote high and clients still happily book. It has taken four years to get it to this point so don't want it to go to waste.

About the Business

Unique in that the floristry style is boho/rustic so attracts the 'hipster' client. Very relaxed clients who are not demanding. The branding is based around natural flowers, many of which are grown on my farm. In reality, I supplement approx. 90% from other growers to obtain what the clients request in terms of colours and flower types.
It has taken many years to find other good growers and source good quality flowers. This has been challenging and I want to pass this knowledge onto the buyer, as well as secret foraging spots. It's not possible to create this style of floristry without this information as many of the flowers I use are not available at the markets.
This extensive knowledge, together with the forward bookings and excellent branding/new website/reputation/social media following is where the value of the business lies.
The sale also includes first choice of flowers from my farm. I will continue growing and currently sell to many florists but the buyer will have primary access.
I have only put in two days per week and very minimal advertising but it has been a run away success. If someone wanted to continue part time this would suit, or if someone wanted to work full time and put more effort into promotion this could be a very lucrative business. I am turning away bookings constantly because they are too big and I know I don't have the time.
There is currently approx. $25,000 in forward bookings for the 2019/2020 wedding season. These have been confirmed with a deposit. I will assure these clients that the new owner will provide a wonderful service and that I will be involved to ensure their expectations are met. For these bookings I have already undertaken much of the consultation and will handover their files detailing requirements, budgeting and what flowers to order from where. This makes it very easy for the new owner to make their money back by the end of this year, plus much more if they choose to take more bookings.
Also included is all branding (logo and font is owned by Farmhouse Flowers), business card and postcard design, business templates, e.g. invoices, email responses, book keeping, Instagram (1,090 followers) and Facebook (390 followers) accounts, great internet traffic due to coding in the website and social media following - this has taken a long time to build up slowly, large catalogue of professional photos and permission from clients and photographers to use them on social media and other promotion - this is huge as everything is about the photos and it takes a long time to acquire good ones.
