Southlands fruit and vegetables is an award-winning fruit and vege shop specialising in local and organic produce, a large range of groceries, deli and frozen items including gluten free, vegan and specialist products and it's own market garden supplying the shop.
Located in Moruya, 4 hours South of Sydney and 2 hours East of Canberra, on the NSW South Coast, the shop is on the main road of Moruya’s town center in a shopping complex including the local butcher and bakery, with all having been in operation together for over 40 years.
Southlands Fruit and Veg has an excellent and long-standing reputation, with a strong following of both locals and the regular tourist influx.
The longevity of the business has created strong supply relationships with local growers and producers, which continues to grow with the resurgence of “local food economies”
During our 10 years of owning the business we’ve focused on strengthening these relationships and developing a customer experience that delivers quality and uniqueness, carving out a strong and enduring niche in the local economy.
Our work has seen a year-on-year growth in turnover and expansion to include; a consistent wholesale run stretching from Batemans Bay to Bermagui, our own Farm block supplying the shop with exceptional local food, and running our own freight back and forth to the Sydney markets three times a week. We are flexible with splitting up the business to suit the motivation of potential new owners.
The business has been rewarding and dynamic. We have business plans in place for further growth and are confident in leaving the business in such a strong position.
Southlands FV has 23 staff with a family vibe resulting in low staff turnover including staff who have worked in the business for over 20 years, providing excellent staff knowledge and experience.
Moruya is the regional centre of Eurobodalla, drawing customers from both the north and south of the shire. It is home to many businesses including the local council, the under-construction $1.5 mil emergency and fire service hub, a new Eurobodalla hospital under construction to replace both Moruya and Batemans Bay hospital, and Moruya Airport which is also under expansion. Strong population growth is forecast for the Eurobodalla region, Moruya in particular is forecast at 21% growth by 2030 and neighboring Broulee 23%.
