This suburb is a very popular tourism stop-off due to the fact it is the first stop and is often regarded as the Gateway to the hinterland Tourist Trail. The town features parks and playgrounds. There is a museum located in the town which contains a large number of historical artefacts from the local area.

The town’s economy mostly derives from small businesses, with many cafes & small eateries, boutiques and gift shops.
